The Edit: Top Summer Fashion Accessories for 2018
As we enter into June, there’s no arguing that Summer is definitely upon us. Often, people seem to think that a whole new season means buying a whole new wardrobe, but that really isn’t the case. With a few simple summer fashion accessories you can easily breathe new life into your existing outfits and make them feel fresh for the season. We wanted to outline our favourite shapes, colours and silhouettes for this season’s accessories, so you know exactly what to do.
Ornamental Heels
The ornamental heel trend has been seen on SS 18 catwalks from Rejina Pyo to Jacquemus. Sure to add a sculptural element to the most basic sandal, this shape is perfect for a summer city trip. Find beautiful iterations at Zara (above) and Mango.
Plastic Textures
Everyone may have found it funny when Céline released their plastic shopping tote, but it’s actually a great material for Summer. ASOS have taken care to showcase the brands using the texture to craft bags (Yoki Fashion shown above) and jackets.
Arts and Crafts
Pieces with a ‘homemade’ effect have abounded on Instagram influencers and street style icons. Think big beads and personalisation, much like Shrimps’ famous ‘Antonia’ bag. This one is quite easy to interpret, with beading often making a lovely feature of most jewellery, like in these Anne Klein earrings (shown above) from WatchShop.com
Logo Mania
Here’s a trend that’s a little less accessible to most, but very Summer appropriate, and very current. Gucci and Fendi’s famous logo garments have been everywhere this season, but not all of us can afford those wild price tags. Our suggestion? Pick up vintage logo accessories, to save money, and tap into this trend. We’re obsessed with Serotonin Vintage on Depop for logo accessories like these Chanel sunglasses (shown above).
Thick Sunglasses Rims
We’ve mentioned the tiny sunglasses trend before, and it seems like everyone has an opinion on it, but one particular style seems to be everywhere at the moment. The thick rimmed, cat-eye shape feels like the only design for the season. Reminiscent of 50’s Hollywood starlets, these are such a Summer staple. Choose a pastel colour (Mango cat eye shown above) to try two trends at once.
We hope you like our summer fashion accessories trend suggestions for this season! Hopefully, dressing for the season will now be a breeze (British weather dependant, of course).
